The Cavaliers and Celtic both lost heartbreakers 2-1 and 3-4 respectively. Both teams dominated their opposition but the old onion sack was stingy. As we all know, soccer is a cruel game and you must capitalize on every opportunity. As a result, Both teams go home and recover for their next push, the start of the finish of the 2019-2020 season.
On a brighter note, Burlington pulled off an upset of sorts coming from behind and tieing Vasco De Gama in the 75th minute to take their game in overtime. Burlington played most of the second half with 10 men and all of overtime when a 105th-minute own goal sealed the victory for BCFC. SNEASL hopes to win the State Cup YET AGAIN now rest on the shoulders of Burlington. Good luck gents!
The Knockout round will start 6/23 and feature the following teams
Celtic v Bloomfiled United, 10AM at Irish American Home
Polonez v Negus, 9/10AM at Percival Field
The Glastonbury Celtic, for the second year in a row and third in four years have won the Connecticut State Cup.
It was a terse battle with the Celtic pulling out a double OT victory over the Fairfield GAC with a game winner in the last few minutes.
The Celtic are going to have to let someone else from SNEASL win this thing at some point but were happy the trophy is with one of our own.
Congratulations Glastonbury Celtic!
